This article is to explain the process of properly wiring an aftermarket radio harness using the RP4-CH11, CH1A-RSX, C2R-CHY4, and LCCHXX series radio replacement modules into factory amplified Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, and RAM vehicles to allow Phone Call audio to pass to the OEM amplifier properly. If you have completed your installation and you are unable to hear Bluetooth Phone Call audio, please follow this guide to resolve this issue. This guide does not pertain to OEM non-aplified vehicles.
Description
In Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, and RAM vehicles from 2006-2018, depending on the vehicle and trim, the OEM amplifier passes the input signal from the radio to the OEM amplifier via a two-channel signal. This signal is transmitted over the rear speaker lines running through the OEM wiring harness. However, for these vehicles, we have to route the front output of the aftermarket radio audio to the rear input of the aftermarket harness so the audio is transmitted to the OEM amplifier properly. You must make the harness change yourself.
The reason for this is most aftermarket radio companies assign the front left and right channel outputs for Bluetooth Phone Call audio. If the harness is not wired properly to accommodate the OEM amplifier, you will not hear Bluetooth Phone Call audio after you install the new radio.
There are a few ways to identify if you have an OEM amplified system:
1. Check for a factory amplifier or subwoofer in the manufacturer specified locations.
2. Check the OEM radio connectors pinouts and see if the front speaker wires are populated on the OEM side of the wiring harness. If the front speaker wires are missing, you have an OEM amplified vehicle and will need to follow the chart below. (This is the easiest to do with the radio out of the dash.)
3. Contact your local dealership and have them run a vehicle report to check if you have an OEM amplifier.
Below is a diagram and visual aid to assist in the proper wiring of the listed modules.
Connect the wires from the column labeled "Aftermarket Radio Harness Colors" to the corresponding wires on the"PAC Harness Colors" column.
